Apache

Apache usually refers to the Apache Software Foundation (ASF), a non-profit organization that promotes and manages a wide range of open source software projects. Since its inception, the ASF has played a critical role in the development and support of open source software used in many technology areas and industries. The projects under the umbrella of the Apache Software Foundation include web servers, database management systems, cloud computing technologies, big data tools, machine learning frameworks and much more.

One of the best-known projects is the Apache HTTP Server, often referred to simply as “Apache”, which has become one of the most popular web servers on the Internet since its introduction in the 1990s. However, the ASF also promotes many other influential projects such as Apache Hadoop for big data processing, Apache Cassandra as a NoSQL database and Apache Spark for fast data processing.

The work of the Apache Software Foundation is based on the principles of open source philosophy, such as openness, collaboration and meritocracy, where everyone’s participation and contribution is recognized and valued. Through this collaborative work, the ASF contributes significantly to technological innovation and progress by providing software solutions that are powerful, freely accessible and modifiable.
